Do you have access to a spare ca18 ECU? that would be the easiest thing to try.

Hey man, how much boost r u running? Sounds like you have leaned out the fuel, like too much boost, or fuel pump/surge tank has missed a beat. could be a number of things but if it was the CAS dying the car would just die, then maybe come back to life, and so on. Not back firing. if it was too much ...
