Re: 1600 SSS
Love your car. While it is your car and your right to do as you like I would strongly recommend against doing mods that can't be reversed. Bolt on mods like better shocks, bolt in motors like L18 L20b etc are fine but the long term value will be greatest with original motor and matching numbers. I s...

Re: Wheel studs
A few years back I wanted some slightly longer wheel studs for my race 510. I bought Nice Products NS4570. Way to long and shortened them. Nice products catalogue can be downloaded from https://niceproducts.com.au/products/wheel-studs-nuts/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It...

Re: CRAIGS 510 1600
Craig I still run an Airtek in my 510 (L18 bored and stroked to 2 litre with 45 webers). At Manfield and on the dyno all seemed ok. I then found one hillclimb with a long uphill full throttle section was catching it out. I found by upgrading the fuel line that it is now ok. To test it I fitted a pre...

Re: Ye olde great Datsun photo thread
HaHa yes Dave, more history for anyone who is interested. The works front struts are in my 510 race car. As I understand it they where spares for the 180b SSS. They have adjustable platforms, 4 pot callipers and a Halda drive through the middle of the axel. Because of this there is no split pin and ...

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/20/epa6a3y5.jpg Some Nz rallying history The 180b sss in Kobyns photo is the works car driven by Shekhar Mehta in the 73 Heatway rally. Paddy Davidson then rallied it for while. Paddy then transferred the works motor (which had an FIA head) etc into a 160J sss and so...

I like kero or white spirits but first check what is recommended for the washer. Some are only rated for water based cleaners.

Sometimes economic reality forces us to do things, but I would love a $1.00 for every time I read some one regrets selling a favourite car.bamble wrote:Removed the car from trademe. Realised I was crazy.
Good move, They aren't making anymore.

Re: Stuffed Boot Lock
Dave, Hopefully it is like a 510 and you can remove the back seat and perhaps rear parcel tray and get to the rear of the mechanism enough to trip it open. I suspect part of the lock mechanism has collapsed. I have opened up lock barrels but it requires prising the outer cover off with out butcherin...

It depends on the motor, the pre 65 class Anglias use L16 cranks
