One of my 1600's was NZ new painted what I think was a lighter blue which as you say faded badly it was called Ko blue. I will see if I can track down the code.

Rewiring to suit and internal regulator is fairly easy, the hard part is finding an alternator with a v belt rather than a ribbed belt. On my race car I am using a Subaru Justy alternator (small = light) just had to cut down the mount slightly. The early L series alternators used 8 mm bolts later on...

I agree there are numerous errors but I think for security reasons the chassis numbers are abreviated. My 1600 sss's are shown with abbreviated chassis numbers but the rego and or rego on hold papers are always correct.

The last time I rebuilt my L18 race motor I bought part number 12315-42L11 from my local Nissan dealer, from memory these are L28 turbo bolts and are slightly longer, I googled the part number, looks like this replaces lots of others and are used in newer motors.
