Hey guys,
Just doing some work on my intake plenum so will be putting all the vaccuum fittings on it. Just wondering where people get these from and what is best to use. I have called a few places and none have really been that useful for sourcing them
Basically I will need all the usual fittings e.g. BOV, Wastegate, Brake Booster, Map sensor etc. etc. so there will be varying sizes.
I am using mild steel for the intake system, so threaded ones may be best.
Any ideas?

Cheapest option is probably threaded brass fittings from a hydraulic or pneumatic company.

If you wangt threaded stuff, try a pipe merchant. We have an outfit down here called taylors limited. They have an endless selection of hose tails, nipples, bushes ad all that jazz. If you wanna go with threaded though, you'll need to make up some bosses for them to screw into, and have them welded to you plenium.

I was planning on welding some 6mm-10mm plate onto the plenum (unsure how thick yet - depends on thread really) to screw these into. I could go weld on but most I have seen have been for braising and I don't have a gas set. As keen as I am to get one, the garage is rather full, hence why I am first looking at screw on.
In terms of build progress, I have just updated my thread for your viewing pleasure. Anything for the club president.
Thanks for the suggestions - I will try BNT again. Called them the other day and they were particularly useful. Got someone who was more interested in know what model car it was off.....

most pipe fittings use a tapered thread. So I'm not sure how you'd get on with tapping a thread into them. Although depending on what you can find, you may be able to find some steel pipe sockets that you could weld/have welded onto you plenium. Also, most pipe fittings will be BSP thread. (British standard pipe) Although american, and some euro stuff used NPT which is a bit more specialised and can be hard to find fittings for sometimes.

If you use the correct tap and have enough thread depth then they'll be sweet. The tapered thread on the fitting means they'll tighten up nicely. Alternatively you can buy short lengths of internally threaded pipe you can weld on (like Bart mentioned), which the brass fittings screw into. That's what I'd do.
I've done it for a few of my air suspension fittings, and they don't leak at 200psi.
