So i had been getting rid of all my treasure that i had collected over the last two years and stashing the cash in my tool box where the missus couldn't find it.
I was saving for a set of simmons for the 1600 so that one day when the wheels showed up I could just buy them, Bit gutted now that there is actually a set there but I got convinced by a friend that the room is his shed could be used to build a new monster.
To cut a long story short I dont have much money left in my toolbox now but i do have in my possession, a short wheelbase ute.
Being influenced by this picture to do something like it but not as hardcore
As cool as it would look on some japanese style wheels I have always wanted a california style truck with the larger diameter wheels on the rear riding nice and low, semi shaved lots of crome etc
So with my mad photo shopping skills this is what im aiming for!!!!!
Photos of the truck up shortly
Has anyone got a 16x8 on the front of a 1200?

1200's have teeny guards unless you want to run heaps of negative camber and a skinny tyre you won't get an 8 in the front. Especially at that diameter

Re: Mini budjet 1200 ute
got my wires crossed 16x7!!!! whats the smallest tire 195/45/r16?
Picking the car up from Rotorua, Had to take the missus to spotlight to calm her down + shes pretty handy with a sewing machine
Picked these up the other weekend from rotorua, cost me $99 for the three of them. So i plan on using these for the front with my z31 hubs.
Hopefully take them apart and give them a polish and stick the smallest profile tires i can find on them.

Re: Mini budjet 1200 ute
So the ute came with these on it taken offers on them ?
Also started polishing the first front wheel
It took a while for the paint stripper to eat the paint on the wheels, but once it was threw hit them with the orbital with 240 grit on it and then onto the buffer. Pretty happy with them really as i missed a few grades of sandpaper in between so they came up looking like they are hand polished the old school way.
Still got a little more work to do on it
And picked up a pair of genuine work equips for $300 so will take them apart and do the same.
Hope the kerbing isn't as bad as it looks????

Re: Project "Sled" 1200 ute
ute steering arms are different to car ones.
Ute bottom arms/castor rods should be the same as B310. Using the longer b310 ball joint gives free negative camber too. (Listed in the book at BNT as being for an HB310)

Re: Project "Sled" 1200 ute
Sweet went down to Bnt About the ball joints and they have two in the system - Can anyone confirm the part number JK163? or the bolt spacing i am after
the works have had a hard life so out with the file and the sandpaper.
I now have two of these in 17x8 and the others in 16x7
Picked up something to repower it, decided to go down the tried and tested route, plus a mate has almost a spare complete set up from his 180sx days
Borrowed some of his old cam covers he had and hit them with paint stripper and the buffing treatment while i was away for work during the week
Got the hilux diff all stripped and just need a rear brake setup. Thinking probably a telstar because of the handbrake setup
Took some photos of the ute for you guys after getting the gas tank out (if anyone wants it PM me otherwise scrapping it) but the dust/vapour in the shed made the photos just a speckly mess so hopefully get some better ones soon.
Whats the best way to get the windscreens out? tools? Dont wanna melt any sparks into them like my shed ones haha

Re: Project "Sled" 1200 ute
Might be getting the hang of this polishing stuff, but man is it time consuming
So spend last weekend stripping the front down to bare shell
Unfortunately there is average repair to the sill which I am gonna cut off and have a look, wouldnt want it to become a problem later
Gonna take the underseal off and re weld the patch in the chassis, repair appears to be pretty good but not welded to my satisfaction.
Also will make a brace out of sheetmetal to the chassis behind the guard
Probably gonna throw it up on the spit and introduce it to mr Makita, As the floor pans are pretty average too.

I can't confirm the part number, but in their book it will be listed as being for an "HB310". Going by nissan code, H should mean Larger engine. Maybe they cars with the bigger motors had more camber to compensate for the extra weight?
