Buddy's Datsun 260c (330 Series) Brougham.

Post by 1337cookie »

This is my 330 Series 260c Brougham, It was born in 1981. When I got it, it had a 3 speed auto. Someone before me had swaped the motor for a L28 (Instead of the stock L26).

Did some minor maintenance on it when I got it. Drove it for about a year then put a manual box in it.

Got bored of the colour and wanted to see how much rust was under the tired paint. Painted it flat black.
Heres some photos of the car from new years/march 2010. Also photos of paint strip back and body filler and primer.

This is my spare L28 Motor which I think would be fun to make a stroker out of. Here it is setup with a Twin Turbo Manifold I got late 2010 sometime which I will use at sometime.

Heres a video of her from late 2010.

I have welded up my exhaust using the twin turbo manifold and two turbo exhaust housings with one side of each blanked out with metal plates.

Got some phat new second hand tyres that are 235 wide I think and put them on the original wheels. They baloon out and look like doughnuts.

Installed an OS tacho.

Installed an oil cooler that has what I believe to be the best looking braided lines (Just plain stainless steel end fittings).

After new years 2010/2011 my hitachi carb shat itself (The float bowl valve failed and it was having other issues and I couldn't find any bits for it. So I purchased a Megasquirt 3 ECU with MS3x on a V3.0PCB that I have successfully soldered together just need to suss out tach sensors etc. I intend to run coil packs I stole off a RB20. Have switched the Twin Turbo manifold out for a single turbo so I can get it running a little easier. I have also bought a new Bosch 044 fuel pump (apparently good for 700hp even though I currently have about 70hp).
There is also some updated pictures of it since it is now black.

Well I bought another L28 off a dude in christchurch and I want to buy a megasquirt at some point. Once I have that running Ill put my twin turbos on and see how it runs (Once I have all the appropriate bits.).
Just need to get the head/block shaved a couple of thouasndths to clean it up and the cylinders rehoned.

Get all the chrome bits that aren't on it repaired, A lot of them are buckled/clips broken/dented from the previous owners.

Put in a 5 speed manual thats sitting in my garage. I want to pull it apart and have a look at the condition of it first.

I have to get a replacement front right side indicator (I hit a power box that was recently installed 6 inches over our driverway) so if anyone sees one let me know.

I also want to put in a front bench seat that I got off skdmrx (John). Then get the interior reupholstered/repadded. If I get too carried away I might make a custom dash (black vinyl/gauges/vents etc) which would help with wiring all things up that its missing.

Central locking and an alarm.

One day swap the leaf suspension out of it.

When Im happy with a lot of it I will get it painted nicely. Im thinking about using a similar concept as john/skdmrx and using a colour from a new nissan. I would probably go with a gold or grey. If not, classic datsun blue.

Theres one outside my house , but im pretty sure its wired up, could cause severe electricution when taking it out, But hey its yours if you want it.

So I've installed a 5 speed Manual box out of a 280z into it so it does skids and stuff now :D I still need to install a plate over it with the rubber thing and stuff but its fun watching the road through my floor while im driving (Just kidding I stuffed some old rags round it to avoid shrapnel).

I've got my indicator troubles sorted out. I reinstalled the rear parcel tray brake lights and indicators since my flatmate took em out cause he reckons they are ugly.

The only thing left for a warrant is an exhaust that doesn't have holes. My flatmate gave me his old "Coby" (A resonator), well its actually two of them welded together that he was using on his prelude. And I also got his old muffler which is all good so now I've got a bunch of exhaust pieces that need to be welded together but don't currently have a welder.
Might post some pics of the Double resonator because it is kinda interesting to me (makes the car really deep sounding).

Had a bit of fun a couple of days ago modding my exhaust since we didn't have the tools to fix my exhaust.
