I thought I'd better start a thread about my recently aquired 610 wagon. I'd been looking for one for the better part of the last year (ever since seeing the slammed IRS wagon off Speedhunters...you know the one )
I found out I was getting sent to Timaru for two weeks for work, and at the same time this wagon got put on TM. I bid for it, got it, picked it up when I went down for work and drove it back up. It ran like a clock and didn't skip a beat the whole way home.
Here are the TM photos of it:

Re: Michael's 610 Wagon
So far I've ripped the lower chrome sections off, swapped the vents (the ones behind the rear passenger windows) for black ones which say "wagon", and removed the horrible second wing mirror on the driver's side.
I've also done the engine oil and filter, as well as the gearbox oil. Diff oil seemed ok.
Oh,....and I bought some wheels for it
They are Manarays (I'm not sure exactly which type...anyone know?) and I'm pretty happy with them.
14 x 6.5 and 14 x 7 with 5.5 offset.
All four are dressed in Hankook 185/55/14 tyres (Thanks Toby )
The main plan from here is to get it lower as it is embarassingly high. I've got some R31 struts and I'm think of making them adjustable...but we'll see. The rear is leaf sprung, so I'll probably go for reset leaves or blocks.
Not planning anything too hot for the engine yet. I've got some SU-style Hitachi carbs (Cheers Dylan ) that'll probably go on there, and I've got a 5 speed that needs a bit of love that could well end up in there.

Re: Michael's 610 Wagon
This wagon is a real pleasure to ride in. Mike showfer'd (spelling!) me all over the show in it the weekend he came up. And it rides just like a sweet old car should.
Glad to see you got rid of the godawful tyres that were on it Mike. They were hideous!

Re: Michael's 610 Wagon
Thanks guys I'm stoked to have it. It's been handy to carry all my stuff in so far.
I assure you I'll be doing my best to look after this old girl.
Also, it looks like the L18 is leaking from the rear main seal. Toby and I noticed oil leaking from between the gearbox and engine. I'm hoping that a 5 speed conversion won't be too far off so I guess I'll do the seal when I do that.
Yeah mate, if it's gonna be cheap then it'd be cool if you grabbed of for me.MR1200 wrote:did you want me 2 grab that sun visor like mine from the werkers 4 ya????
Yup they were terrible. Drives a lot better on the Hankooks that's for sure. I was in good hands asking Toby for help there.Bartman wrote:...godawful tyres...
Ah so you were the guy from Christchurch who went and had a look at it? Haha damn you for making me pay an extra $310LOWSTHEGO wrote:You outbid me for this. Atleast it didnt go to a flat peaker
