Exhaust from midas
I have my 1200 sedan booked in tomorrow for a new exhaust, its going to be new from the extracters back. I,m wanting to know what people think would be best (size etc) to fit for best performance, and what to pay for it. Its a standard a15 at the moment but am planning on fitting a sc12 supercharger soon. Any opinions?

Re: Exhaust from midas
What size is the collector on your headers?
One guy I know swears and declares that it's best to chop off the stepped down section of the collector, and run a bigger diameter. Since you're going to super it, Id say 2 1/4-2 1/2. You'll be cramming in the same amount of air that a 2.4 litre engine would breath. So a zhorst to suit that would make sence.

Hi Bart, is the collector the 4 into 1 part of the headers, and what size do you think it should be? I,m also wanting to have a flange at the end of the headers so I can easy unbolt for engine removal.

Yes the collector is the 4 into 1 bit. My coby D2 headers step down quite a bit from this size. Definately get a flange put on where the headers meet the rest of the exhaust. And it you can coat the bolts with an anti seize compound too.

Re: Exhaust from midas
Dropped it at midas this morning, i,m going 2 1/2 inch with one turbo flow muffler. I asked them to open up the collector to match the size of the pipe and to fit a flange......he still thourgh that was a bit big even for a super charger but said the only down side to having a big pipe was a bit more noise that i,m ok with...

yeah a bigger diameter pipe will drone a bit more. If it's too droney, you can add a resonator later to change the tone. My system is 2 1/4, and with one turbo flow and two resonators it's the quietest car at the drags. (Although my system is a complete POS.

Re: Exhaust from midas
Picked it up tonight and i,m very happy with the job, its all painted matt black with a nice flange fitting, its been tucked up close to the drive sharft....very neat and tidy......thats what $600 gets you. Its quieter than befor but still trones a bit, but I like a sporty sound. I think its goes better now and seams to have more mid range power but flattens off at top end. What make your system a POS, is piece of s..t, right?

It's made out of old exhausts off other cars. All press bent. Lots of nasty sharp butt joints. Not really the right shape. It leaks. It has loose mounts. it hangs too low. It's ugly. it rattles.
