A month down, and not much has been happening with the car. Thus far, I've binned the cracked original tyres from the steel wheels, and replaced them with a fresh set of 195/70/14's which is basically the same as the original spec 175 SR14's as far as diameter is concerned. Horrendously uncool, but great for retaining the originality. Had these whitewalled just prior to New Years by Dave Hawkins in Mt Wellington, great old joker who's done an equally great job.

If you recall the previous update, I lost a hubcap while en route to Fox Glacier via the Haast Pass... well, as fate would have it, during our journey South in the Celica, we happened upon a small outfit called "Hinds Motor Services" operating out of an old motor garage in South Canterbury. This chap had mountains of weird and wonderful old car stuff - the majority being British - but as I was rummaging through a stack of hubcaps, I did notice some that to my (at that stage very vague) memory belonged to an H230 Cedric. However, because at this point I didn't realise I needed them I made sure to make a mental note that they were there, in the case my memory served me correctly.

Long story short? Well, I called the proprietor of this Aladdin's cave of discarded automotive treasures, who promptly packaged and sent me what were a set of NOS hubcaps to suit none other than an H230 Nissan! How stoked was I.... Lastly, I've added a wooden Nardi Classic steering wheel to the cabin, as the original is Interislander spec and interferes with my lanky frame!

I think I need to remove a heap of the ride height... any suggestions on getting this at least 3 inches lower?

Unsure how it will look on stock wheels slammed though? Ideally I'd have it sorted on some suitable wheels (wide steels!) then slam to suit the offset.

Hey dude HQ holden front springs and shocks. Super lows will make it about 3 inches lower then get the leaves reset to suit the front. Easy as in the 230 and 330 series. They ride really well on kings too.

you can do a rough re-set on the rear leaves yourself.
There are 5 leaves in the pack, take out the second longest one and flip it over.
You need some heat, a couple of g-clamps and 2 pair of vise grips.
You have to open up the clamps on the spring pack to get the leaves out and then bend them back around the springs once you have flipped the second one and clamped them back together.
should get you 3-3.5 inches.
I have a h130 which has identical suspension and it was this low with 14s and a flipped rear leaf and cut front coils.
If you want a firmer ride at the front you can fit cut down xf falcon front coils. it takes a bit of trial and error to get the right height.
If you lower the front more than an inch, you will need to adjust the front camber. The top suspension mounts at the front can be unbolted a few mm and shims slipped in to give you more negative camber.
A mate had to add 8mm to get it right after he lowered it about 4 inches

Thanks mate, I think I'll have my rear leaves reset and retempered professionally but the camber adjustment is duly noted. I'm hoping to go at least 3 inches lower with it...
