Oil feed for turbo
Re: Oil feed for turbo
A better way than the factory L series way? The only real way it could be better is if it was on the other side of the block.

Yea other side of the block would have been better again.
Reason i think a sandwich plate between the filter will be better is you don't have the extra weight of the bulky twin light/gauge sender unit hanging off the end of a T fitting.
I don't trust that little thread to hold all that extra weight and vibration.
Was the R30 Skyline sender much smaller (ie did it only run a light)

I'm pretty sure the turbo R30s had oil pressure gauges too. The factory line was bolted to the head and inlet manifold so they were pretty sturdy, I ran a braided line from a brass t piece with an oil pressure sensor on my old turbo motor with no bracing at all and it was sweet.

Ah ok thats handy to know. Ive heard to stay away from the brass Ts ( i have shit loads at work) cos APPARENTLY brass work hardens with the vibrations and then snaps off.
Thats whats got me worried.

I've seen steel or staino tees at Paykels. On the RB now I got the highest switching point oil pressure sender I could find and hooked it up to a really bright LED which is in front of the steering wheel, if I was really smart I'd hook it up to the fuel pump relay so that if it lost oil pressure it'd kill the motor, maybe one day when I'm bored!

Thats how a lot of OLD engines where wired to begin with the L18E is one of them (i think been awhile since i looked at the diagrams).
Fuel pump relay is wired off the starter signal wire so it pumps and primes while cranking then also wired to oil pressure switch to make it stay running. Good theory for safty but was wounding how it would go on old high ks engines with thin oil.
