Just a little bit of venting here.
Just brought in a Parcel from overseas.
total declared value $364.
then got stung with a friggen $117.42 charge
That is total BS.
WTF......
Has anyone else incurred similar charges?

Re: Fucken Fuming
Yep - get used to it pretty much.
Lisa gets in alot of stuff from overseas for her home business, and we have had a range from $100 US to $950 US.
Anything over $1000 NZ and you have to fill out an import enrty from and you will get lumped with GST, also GST on freight (even if the stuff was freight free from where you brought it) they make up how much you would have paid for freight and charge you the GST on it.
Is your item declared $360 odd US or NZ as they can and will check and charge every single item if they had time and staff, as most people think the $400 and over rule applies but that is B/S. Its pretty much anything over "gift" value of $100 and you could be charged.
When ordering try and time it right so it gets to nz on friday night as we have found anything over the weekend seems to slip though (must me busy as on the monday or something)
Out of probably 30 packages we have had come in only 6 or 7 have been charged.
I know someone who brought dresses for $120 nz value and because was clothing got lumped with $100 duty and gst making it more expensive overall than buying here.
Looks like you were unlucky this time hope this helps

Work addy was worse for us as they take is a business goods for that company, theiving c??ts
Re: Fucken Fuming
yea thieving cunts.
If i had a reason behind why I was being charge I could see myself understanding, but "cos customs" to me just seems like money grabbing where ever they can

What was in the parcel? They usually include the price of the freight in the "$400NZ" minimum. I've only been stung once and that was for my turbo which was understated on the paperwork anyway.

Yeah daylight robbers
Looked into freighting some wheels in from brisbane
paid 700aus for the wheels , price the freight 800 nzd hahah
150 for two extra 23kg bags from aussie, so now going over for the long weekend and its still cheaper.
