Dont put butynol deadener on your roof!, when your roof gets hot in the sun when you are parked up at akaroa later this year, the butynol will go elastic, and it will possibly drop and make a black gooey mess above your hood lining!
I looked at using this 'Ratmat' product too, but unsure what quality will be like, there are scores of suppliers out there all claiming to have product better than or as good as dynamat.
In the end I paid for the 'branded' well known original, I know it may not be the best product but it probably has the best market presence, so guess that has to be a good thing.
This product is just for adding mass to the steel panels (ie its a constrained layer damper), to reduce resonance in the panel steel, and vibration suppression. This does not block noise outright! it just reduces the vehicles metal surfaces 'amplifying' the noise.
If you refer to some of my recent posts on my coupe build thread, you will see that my research has identified the need for a 3 layer system, with that Ratmat being layer one of the system. you still need a decoupler barrier (foam) layer, and a mass loaded vinyl 'blocker' layer for optium performance.
PS; I am no expert, I have just spent many hours online of recent researching

There's actually a kiwi based avenger forum.
I'd try asking there to start with.

The internet has a forum for everything.

Re: Luke's 1200 coupe of going to keep forever-ness!

I had removed some of the factory stuff in the foot well area already, but other areas still had it fitted, like around the trans tunnel, back seat area etc. I only removed a little bit more as it was 'lifting' away. my inside was all painted ready to go.
Ensure you clean up all surfaces properly, and have degreased them before trying to apply, I used "fuellite" spirits which seemed to work good and was fast evaporating. ensure you do your firewall, floorpans & wheel well, as thats where most transmission of noise will come from. if you want you can 'double' thickness it in important areas, if you have surplus material. check my coupe build thread for where I applied it. my pack was only 48 ft/2 so could not cover under the rear seat in the end as run out of product.
Its pretty easy to apply, a couple of areas I made a paper template firstly, then ensured that was all fitting good, before cutting the
mat to suit. it is easy to apply, and trims easily. just make sure you are 100% happy with location before you get your roller on to it!

reset leaves are in, with the 2 inch blocks ...... think it might need to rise a little already though,
running a starshark ripoff 13x7 with 0 offset with a 165/65r13 (stretched but with a higher profile than normal) it gets the beautiful clearance it needs, very well.
so for a test i got my generously proportioned flatmate to jump up and down inside the car good and proper over where the diff sits and try as he might the guards refused to hit the tyre, at maximum jump (while keeping feet attached to car) it couldnt touch the tyre. EXTRA LEAF FOR THE WIN!!!
(thank you kitch for the well spoken advice,my flatmate is not small, especially at jumping velocity)
its sturdy as!
but now imagine muscle car rake......BUT THE OPPOSITE!!!!
ridiculously high front end, but i have the avenger springs and 60mm lower monroe shock inserts ready to go, plus the bump steer spacers, plus 120y swaybar, etc etc all needing fitment. front end is jacked up and ready to go.
a thread will be started to organise someone/peoples to come drink some alcohol and eat some food at mine while they remedy these particular issues for me

Re: Luke's 1200 coupe
ok so some progress has been made, got new inserts in and refitted springs for a mock up to see how much to slice from springs, THAT WAS INTERESTING! cheers to adam for showing me how spring compressors are not always needed when a jack and a navara are readily available for compressing a spring into place on the strut.
so its been back in and tomorrow night il rip it out for hopefully the last time to get bellamy and east to work their magic again.
visited james in rangiora on sunday for a guiness and some advice etc.
getting james ....relative to turn off the weld on one set so i can widen them for the back...
aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd does anyone know where to buy ssr 13'' alloy bands from? want to widen my set of rears for a nice staggered fitment.

Its gonna cost around 550 for two polished new outers, excluding shipping. Leaning towards this option as getting a set of mk3s in a 13x7.5 wouldn't be cheap in nz.....
If anyone was thinking of this option and wanted to go halves for a cheaper setup cost (which I can post up showing costs?....and the whole email coz it gives great info etc)
