I'd suspect that you'll need to both skim the pistons, the block, and the head to achieve that number Wal.
From memory (I may be way off) the E15 has a combustion chamber around 18cc. Where as the A series is closer to 29cc.
You're going to need a piece of perspecs with a small hole in it to properly measure the cylinder etc.
I'm planning to disect a head soon to see how thick the deck is.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Going by the speedway heads I've seen they can have at least 5mm taken off them

Have just been reading up on Kitch,s compression ratio chart, and it recommends between 7and 8 to1 for turbo motors, so I may be well off on my 8.5/1 .
To be fair it was a number I got off a build thread on 1200.com,

How much boost and how much lag do you want?
My limited understanding of Turbos would say: If you want an engine that has no power unless it is boosting but then can handle high boost for high HP then lower compression ratio. If you want something that is more driveable but can't handle as much boost then higher compression ratio.
I think it is about finding the compromise that suits you, 8.5:1 isn't far from Std compression I'd think. Modern technology can help deal with lag, and boost is all good isn't it? :burnout: When 1200s were new I think there would have still been engines around with 7:1 compression ratios, running SUs and no forced induction :D

lower thasn 8.5 to 1 is unnecessarily low with decent fuel and the massive improvements with turbo's and inter cooling.

a lot of factory turbo cars started out in life around 7.5 to 1 or 7.8 to 1, and after a few years of production were moved up to 8.5 to 1.

sure you can run more boost but having the extra compression there will let it be more drivable, better fuel eco ( off boost ) and will actually help it get onto boost nice and pronto.

Are you going to be running Carbs or EFI ?
The Answer to your Question is NEEDS MORE VG30

Considering his request for 350cc + injectors and his purchase of a megasquirt, I would assume EFI.
