Insurance valuations

Post by nzdatman »

Now that my 1600 is pretty much back on he road, my insurance broker has told me I might need to get a classic car valuation for the insurance company. I know the club does valuations, what is the latest with these, are insurance companies acknowledging them? I realise I would need to either join the club or pay for a valuation which is fine but I just wanted a bit more info first, or is there somewhere else I should go for a valuation?
I remember having to go through this years ago and taking it to the local Nissan dealership whose salesman valued it at less than $500 :?

The club can write valuation letters. (we have a template saved)
I can't guarantee that all insurance companies will accept them though.
Swann insurance does though. Valuations are free for financial members. I don't know about non members? We've never done one for non members to date.
Given the sweet discount we get with Swann, it may be worthwhile joining? It's up to you though.

Just read up on the insurance deal with swann. Sounds good. Might give them a ring tomorrow. Question though,
How would you guys value my car when it's up here and you're all the way down there?

I think the idea of the classic cover is that it isn't for your daily, if it's not in daily use it is a good deal I think.
