240z, 260z or 280z wanted for restoration

Post by OliverGordon79 »

For a long time Ive been very interested in restoring a 240Z, 260Z or 280Z.
Ive spent a lot of time on trade me looking for the right deal, but as Im sure youre all aware they're going for 15 - 20k and are already in really good nick.
Im ultimately after a cheap 240z, 260z or 280z thats needs a good deal of TLC.
Basically as long as the body is straight and there isnt much (if any) structural rust.
Everything else can deal with.
I was hoping that someone in the Datsun club NZ could help me out or point me in the right direction.

All leads would be hugely appreciated.

Sounds like you don't actually want a Datsun at all...

this has to be pretty cheep, and not a heap of rust in his opinion. Halfway to auckland aswell

Only problem is that everybody is after a "cheap" 240Z, unfortunately they just don't exist. A guy in the Z Club brought one over from the States for reasonable money, but as far as I know it would need to be converted to RHD to be easily registered, and the parts to do that are hard to come by as well.

Yeah I kinda figured as much, I thought if anyone knew I would find them on the forums here.
I guess i'll just have to save the pennies and pay the price theyre going for.
I just really want to start one from scratch and put some solid work into it.
The ones that are going for 20k are worth it and cool as hell, but I dont want to mess with one thats had a lot of work already put into it.

Thanks heaps for your advice, much appreciated.

Try asking on the Zclub as well, http://www.zclub.org.nz somebody on there might have a project floating around. PM NZeder on there too, he's got his ear to the ground when it comes to that kind of thing.
