Re: help with 1963 bluebird
The car runs an E1 1200cc engine, was hoping a gearbox from a 410 might bolt straight up or one from a A12?

I'm not sure if the 410 gearbox will fit. Maybe the guys over at ratsun might know if the J's and E's run the same bellhousing?
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

The 410 also ran the E1 1200cc. The 411 went to the J13. The gearboxes are different for both, E1 and J13, but could be interchangeable.
I happen to have both sitting in the barn I think. I'll go check soon.

Re: help with 1963 bluebird
Looks like I may have 2 x J series gearboxes and one E series. I think they are all 4 speed, but the E series may not have had syncro's for going into 1st gear.
The bolt pattern appears to be most the same apart for an extra bolt around the starter motor position on the J series gearboxes. They appear to be the same length, but the J series box has the shifter positioned further back (possibly as they moved away from a bench seat up front).
From memory the spline is the same on the output shaft between the 2, but is different to the A series.
If you want pics or measurements of anything, just let me know exactly what you need.
