R.I.P. My little pocket rocket

Post by Loganw »

Alright my hart is broken in more ways than one.
My poor we pocket rocket (blue race car) has died and I am on the look out for a sedan or coupe shell or whatever as a donner body.
Whats out there guys? Any help would be appreciated.

What happened:
Well to cut the story very short I wrapped it round a power pole its not a good tail, I am still beaten and brused and the guy with me is still in hospital. Any of you with rollcages check your strength for side impact center of the sill I had 1 bar and it did fuk all.

Sorry to hear. are you after a 1200 sedan as I have a pretty mint shell I may part with.
I'll put a photo of my 1200 rally car up of roll cage. We put extra bars in after seeing my uncles wrx crash. The roof was on the dash and car was a banana from front to back. Hit tree at 100+ kms. Tree won

Good on you for wanting to get back on the Horse Logan.
I was pretty gutted to hear about your mishap. And part of me thought, he'll be over datto's after that. (I lost interest in them for a good while after 250 stitches in my head, the loss of sight in one eye, and a week in hosptial) But once you've had the Dat, you always come back..........

Yea mate It's pissed me off so much everything was starting to fall into place nicely.
My passenger has improved slightly so that's a big bonus, drove passed the site and I'm dammed if I know how we ended up where we did.
Need to get the car back to check a few things, as I remembered a couple of days later there was a lot more scraping in the back than the last time i drove it.
Just prior to the accident we were speaking about it.

I'd prefer a sedan as that is what it was so please PM me some detials.
Thanks for the Photo as that looks like what i will want after seeing what happened to mine. Once I get it back I'll get some photos.

Cheers for you support guys

Mate, gutted. Hope your mate improves quickly.
Great to hear you still got the bug, when I totalled my 1200 I made the mistake of replacing it with a Sunny, once you've had a 1200 nothing else will do :)
All the best Logan.

Logan. Sorry to hear of your accident.

Thoughts are with Pete, and yourself, and hope you can both make a full recovery from this.

If you cant find anything in the North Island, my mate has a shell down here in Timaru, but the cost of transport would make it non-viable I would expect. Sounds like Datto1200 can hopefully sort you out.

Chin up bud.

Hey lads
Its not the easiest to post these but please note the weakness around the sill area. If you are racing one of these or have a high performance one consider strengthening ya cage around this area. The out come of my accident could have been very different 6 inches forwards or backwards but sometimes shit and bad luck come together at the wrong time and honestly if I can save one person by posting this information it's worth it.

Thanks Datto 1200 for the pic on how it should be done.

Holy shit that's an eye opener! How is the passenger?
I think I'll be doing a bit if strengthening along the lines of that other cage pic posted

That wouldn't even have taken that hard a hit either.
The old 1200's are made of shit. (That's why they are so fast)
I know a guy who had to get cut out of a 1200 too. Broke his femur in two. He said he couldn't believe how the car just folded up around him.
