To Duel Carb or not to Duel Carb

Post by Jabo »

Ok Guys I need some advice and or opinions. Heres the deal my 280z has been converted to carb but only has a single webber at the moment and as some people may be aware I have plans to build a fuel injected turbo motor  for it but thats a long way off yet.

I have a mate who is considering off loading a set of Dollortos and I was wondering if its worth while putting them on my Z?

also are there and Dollorto gurus on here that could help me out tuning them etc etc

I hope that makes sence

it really depends on how much they are and how far off your turbo engine will be. bear in mind it will increase your fuel consumption.

damon is good with the dellorto carbs so have a yarn with him

It's very expensive if they are not already jetted to suit you car, or need any work done on them. If your not trying to chase added horsepower then keep it simple and stick with the single carb.

But if you want to be cool go triples

An engine is a sum of it's parts. So you mightn't notice that big a difference just by changing the carbs. TBH, I'd run what you've got, (Unless you could get a pair of SU's cheap enough) and focus on getting your turbo motor happening.

I am considering (still haven't made my mind up yet) selling my genuine twin SU's and manifold (early type - the good ones) - bolt on and away you go, they are on an L26 at the mo but are a bit rich so would be spot on for an L28 I believe..

If you are keen PM me for $$$.
