Removing B310 Fan and Heater Core

Post by Nick »

So I have recently brought a B310 sedan which has a water leak coming from the heater/fan unit under the dash. I have removed the cowling above the bonnet to check if there was any rust in the water channel which there wasn't. Im planning on now removing the heater to try find out if the heater is leaking or water is getting in. By the looks of it I need to remove the entire dash to get the heater unit out does anyone know if this is the case or is it possible to remove it without stripping down half the car?

i had this problem a few months ago, the heater cock on the drivers side of the heater had let go. This is only held on with a few screws so i'd check it first. If its not that, you dont have to remove the whole dash to get the heater out, just the front face of the instrument panel. Do you have a workshop manual??

Thanks for that Grant, ill have a look there tomorrow. It does seem to be worse on the passengers side so im thinking water could be getting in at the air inlet somehow. I haven't got one yet, its defiantly at the top of my to buy list after a new shifter bush.

if you look from the drivers side you will see 2 rubber heater hoses and some brass fittings could be one of those etc, and yes much easier to take dash out to take the heater box out etc

Thanks for the replies guys! Looks like I'm taking the dash out this weekend. I was just going to lathe up a brass bush although I'm not to sure that would be the best idea

Oh thanks, I didn't realise they actually have three bushes., just thought it was the one. I'll send Scott a message then, it's not even worth trying to make your own at that price!
