Very cool updates i haven't read this thread lately
for wiring you can get that "fire sleeve" stuff that stretches over plugs and clips to the loom, ive got some over brake lines where mine run close to headers.
Great work, gearbox mount looks tidy too. Nice to see the anti crush sleeve - most people don't bother.

Re: LS1 V8 280z
So good to get back into this, got the clutch line made up just need to find a motorbike parts store to get a clutch fluid reservoir. also sorted a throttle cable, had to pull the pedal out and bend it back to get enough travel but to do that i had to remove the steering column so that was a long task just to take the pedal out. Also pulled the gearbox mount back out, welded it up, painted and reinstalled. Ive just finished designing a stronger 5 stud stub axle with spline for a commodore c.v. just not sure if i want to go all out now and make a strong rear-end or try find 5 stud 300zx stubaxles (which are like hens teeth to find) and just go for cert then upgrade later.I got some 5stud front hubs off a mitsubishi l300 that i need to turn down then get the right bearings then ill have the front sorted with hilux calipers. Oh and also circle-track engineering are making me a stronger custom driveshaft to fit.

Progress is slowly ticking along, got the driveshaft back today from circletrack, it looks real nice and fits perfect. time to sort the driveshaft loop. gonna try mount the ECU this weekend and make the airbox. I ordered the bar of 4340 that was real expensive but should be here end of next week then ill spend a saturday at work machining it. also put the gearbox mount backing plates in.

No photos on this update but puller the diff out and installed the lsd unit from the 300zx diff into it, had to make little bushes up to swap the crown wheels over as the lsd is drilled for m12 and the crown wheel only has m10s. then i made an airbox for it, it looks ok, not my best work but ill hopefully be able to make it look good when its done.

Re: LS1 V8 280z
Engine bays basically finished now, cable tied all the hoses off each other so no rubbing points, airbox mounted up alright, looks a lot better with a thick coat of paint. Good news too, my block of 4340 shaft turned up today, hopefully get onto machining them on Saturday if our useless CNC lathe keeps going. I need to get a grommet to fit the firewall for the engine loom (lost the original one). Got to mount the ECU aswell but that wont take long.Need to find a nissan shifter i can cut down and bolt to my gearbox shifter to fit my factory gear knob on once i re engrave it.

Re: LS1 V8 280z
Been a busy day today, went into work today to start machining the stub axles, i got the bearing side of one fully finished and started roughing the other side as i could only stay until 12. Our useless lathe is only a whopping 8hp so couldnt handle large cuts on the 4340 shaft so was taking an hour and a half just to rough the parts, hopefully next saturday i can do the other one and during the week this week ill machine the wheel side. I also made up the driveshaft hoop last night, i cheated though and brought one of those kits off trademe, i just couldnt be bothered cutting and drilling my own. Time to start putting the rear back together tomorrow, and need to remove my powersteering box to take away to get converted to manual steer (no room around my headers to run lines) also my old 280zx had apowersteering box that had no power and it drove awesome.

MAte, looking good. Nice work. I like the way a Driveshaft hoop is required, but question how the thing hangs down and could be vulnerable from a hit, how far down does it hang? I can't see how you can avoid it the way it has to be, but wonder if it will always be a safety feature.

Awesome work on the stub axle, keen to see more of this progression.
DJ and myself have talked about making these before, your work is excellent keep it up.
Do you mind me asking what the materials have cost so far ?
