Guys around the smoko table said that a quad bike rider died after he hit a bank on the way down.

Yeah, there was a thing in the paper about it, they called it a freak accident, so they aren't looking for anyone to blame.
The guy was was an experienced rider and was wearing all his safety gear properly etc, aparently he just took the corner to fast.

Yeh, pretty nasty crash apparently... I was talking to Ian Ffitch on sunday and they sat it out as a mark of respect. My sympathy's to all friend's & family.
Otherwise the times were unreal and went sub 60seconds in the final
, also John Silcock had a massive endo down the middle of the track, hit a post and flipped over the bank!
Car was a right off but everyone was OK.
Unfortunatly the Datsuns just couldn't put it to the Starlets (Or Hoppy's massivly massive escort)
I think Steve or Clint Murphy won it? It was all a bit blurry by that stage of the afternoon
