could it be LSD?
looks like some sort of borg warner type diff

dude its got a hitachi logo on it

may have a spool installed to make it LSD

Dude just google "spool diff" and you'll see they lock the two axles together in a professional manner without welding

As per this diff could it be a very tight or "shimmed" LSD - one of my mates had a tight lsd that did the whole scuffing round roundabouts etc and was an A#SE to drive.

You could always dump the oil and remove the backing plate/ mo-stash bar etc to find out.

Im guessing a tight LSD diff from what information we have been given the only real way to tell is remove the backing plate.
If its LSD and you don't like it im sure theres people on there that would be happy to buy it from you.
