while my car is not race car, with lowering blocks in the back and lowering kings in the front, it handles rather well. its a bit stiffer up front, but not too harsh, but best of all, it corners really nicely.
s13 conversion, with some new springs and shocks matched to each other will go a long way

My queries relate to the new engine that is going in, so I'm starting to plan things in advance and look for parts needed.
I asked about the S13/A31 swap as this would give me larger brakes as well as suspension choice but the idea of more track is not wanted and adjustable's do sound a bit excessive for a daily driven car plus there is steering to sort.
Current struts will need to be shortened as there is under 30mm travel before the top hat so if I could get a stiffer spring as well as more low with more travel I would be happy.
Has any one done the brake up grade before? and would they like to do my strut work if I sent all parts needed to do so.
I am also looking for the best LSD option as the drive shaft will need to be changed so might as well look into diff options also. Remembereing I don't want big shock towers coming in my boot space and happy to keep the leafs.

if you are dead keen on an LSD, you may have to adapt a hilux or similar diff to the your car. LSD units for your diff are thin on the ground and very expensive

I have a few sets of S13 brake adapters. They just need to be drilled.
Since you have a spare car, you can convert your spare struts without having to take the Y off the road.

let us know how you get on man, really interested to see how it goes. maybe have a look through the projects for the sweet sunny wagon with RB20det. its got a sweet setup in the rear, with a nice watts linkage.

So this will mean I can run a larger caliper on my standard strut and avoid changing anything else correct? I will look into springs and shocks that will suit a lower height.

i think you pretty much replace the standard setup with the s13 parts, pads, calipers, and rotors. from memory you do have to machine either your hub to fit the s13 rotor or something along those lines. having driven barts car with this setup on the front, i can say it is a worthwhile conversion. best of all the barts are cheap and relatively easy to get
