I was in Autoalign (Timaru) half an hour ago to pick up a bunch of Noelthane bushes for the rear end of my car.

Was meant to be finished for the Classic car racing meeting on Levels this weekend, but doesnt look like its quite gonna make it unfortunately.

Looks pristine, Jacko there pulled out some on speedsport magazine, and showed me some original photos of when it was racing...

there was a real cool datsun that use to race at teretonga from around timaru ways a couple i think its its quite famous the guy crashed and died in it a couple years ago at timaru and its getting rebuilt and taken to a museum think it had a 1000cc engine may of been a cherry or something could be wrong tho

That car was Dave Browns A14 cherry and yea i usto do real good around Teratonga. He had a heartatack on levels and crashed it though its almost finished being rebuild i've been told

Yeah I caught up with Richard (Dave's son) last time I was in Timaru, the car is still a way off being done, so tragic when you see how immaculate his Dad had got it before his heart attack. He didn't want the car on camera in the state it was (fair enough too) but he did have a bit of a yarn about its history etc. So the car will get a mention in episode 2, hopefully I will have it done by wednesday/thursday.

thats wicked that its getting dine cant wait to see it finished use to enjoy watching it kick ass. the sons not going to race it tho is he?

No, sadly the Cherry won't be raced again. It was easily my favourite, it simply ripped shit up. Cutting and dicing all manner of larger capacity RWD cars in a tiny Cherry, it always brought a smile.

I am not really sure how to navigate around this forum, however if any of you are interested I used to race Datsuns in the 70's in the Shellsport series and know a little about that period.

I have introduced myself in that section with a photo of my Shellsport Coupe in 1978 guise. Here is a photo from 1976.
