Nah, pretty sure it's any colour as long as it's black, my other Z has the pimp red interior as well, don't know what car manufacturers in the 70s/80s were thinking!
I forgot to say I think my surround was marked out for the antenna switch as well so that would be easy to cut out if you are still using the original switch/antenna.

Hey so it's been a while since I've been on here, but between uni finishing and some how getting an internship over the summer I haven't had a lot of free time. Anyway, something exciting arrived yesterday, just in time for this Saturday's cruise as well.
KYB shocks and Cobra springs. I know there are other, possibly better options like the s14 coilover mod, but these are bolt in and don't require recertification. It's a 3cm lowering which isn't really what I wanted but I figure if worst comes to worst I'll sort it out later.
Annoyingly I forgot to get some before shots until after we'd started. The back was easy to do and took about two hours for two less than qualified mechanics (me and a friend). At the front we were greeted with this. If you can't read it, it says Datsun 260Z which I found interesting.
Shortly after that interesting tid-bit, we ran into some major issues with this thing.
I had no tool that could move it and it was nearly 11pm when we decided to give up for the night. leaving my car looking sad and dismantled.
The brake is sitting on the tyre so the brake line doesn't get stretched.
So, today I went out and bought something to undo that twisty thing. Might get the rest done tonight after work but it might have to be tomorrow. In other news I'll be ordering a new fuel pump soon and hoping to get some advice on brakes this Saturday. The L28 has been suffering from some engine hesitation recently and I can't get it to a mechanic until later this week. I've tried a couple of different things but I think diagnosing problems with the EFI system is a bit beyond my ability.

I had Cobras and KYBs in my car before I went to coil overs, they were really good apart from being not quite low enough. Are the rear springs captive?
You'll more than likely need to remove the front struts from the car and put them in a vice or on the ground to get the top nut undone. Mine were a major mission after 30 odd years, I used a big pair of polygrips but stiltsons would probably work better apart from rooting the nuts.

Capacitive? I'd probably have to check the box... Yeah I bought a stilson today. Thought I'd only need one but you might be right, a second could be a good idea.

KYB's are good shocks, i run then in my Hilux and take a beating.
I used Standard Height Shocks with Lowering springs on the front and its captive, if its only a tiny bit lose you might just need new rubber bits that go around the spring.
Looks good, new shocks and springs will Totally transform it !!

So thus far I've failed to undo the metal thing (name?). I don't suppose anyone has either the proper tool to undo it, the knowledge to undo it with out the tool, or two new metal things I can buy so I it doesn't matter if I break the current ones?

Upper riccarton, very near uni. Everything on the front left is as detached as you can see in the photos. Nothing on the front right is though.
