I run Std Tridents on my 1200, 13x6, with Balloony 185/70 13s they rubbed too much on the rear, I'm guessing you will have issues with 7s, 1200s are pretty tight fit to the rear.

Re: 13x7 tyres/clearance issue.
I'm running 14x6 rims with +15 offset on my 1200 I believe (will have to sift through my build thread to confirm). They have balloony tyres on them too (185/55) and rubbed. Rear guards had to be rolled and flared a tad to make them fit. The front wheels had to be pulled forward as they were rubbing on the chassis. The front guards were rolled and flared to match the rear. Also, the stock brake callipers touched the inside of the rim, so had to give them a wee lick too.

Common theme coming through here. Ballons fail and require guardwork.

185/55 aren't that Balloony and 15s on a 1200, you'd need narrow rubberbands not to have the same profile, just not much room. Keep us informed as to how they go Luke. All the best. My tyres can fowl the front guards on lock if I hit a bump, eg entering a drive way at speed.

They're balloony to me! lol I'd have gone 13x6 if I knew some guard work was required and hadn't already purchased the wheels (with tyres).classicdat wrote:185/55 aren't that Balloony and 15s on a 1200, you'd need narrow rubberbands not to have the same profile, just not much room. Re: 13x7 tyres/clearance issue.
coupes have slightly wider guards than a sedan on the rear.
i run 165 60 13s on a 7" rim no probs on the back.
same tyre on a 6.5" rim on the front.

wheels arrived last night! and they fit in rear guards!!
the birds eye view pic was taken on a lean so you could actually see the edge of the rim. might be inside the guards by 5mm? LUCKY!
