Pretty sure B means it's an R180 and a C would mean an R200.

on a r180 the rear alloy cover is squarish in shape, rounder on r200.

where the axles go into the sides of the diff housing, have a look. if the side parts of the diff housing are bolted on, its an r180.
if they are part of the whole housing with no bolts, its r200.

shes a one 180 =[ you guys are right, but on the bright side its irs ... so i was looking into it and some/most Subarus came out with long nose r160 lsds and have the spline count as 25 same as my half shafts correct ? whats stoping me of using one of these ? has any one seen heard of this sounds like straight swap to me ?

i had r180 lsd's etc before, and they can be a bit odd. yes, i think the spline counts are the same,
but the "land" for the oil seals is larger on the r180, and may or may not fit the r160.
r180 axles have circlips holding them in, whereas the r160 has bolted in axles.

i'd say your best bet is r200, with late model lsd fitted to centre. some mods required, but far less than other/smaller diffs.

on a side note, the mounting bracket on the back of the r180, is different from the r200. you will need to swap this over if you
go r200.

I think I have an R200 housing there, along with an extended rear cover, not sure of brand but is designed to aid cooling. PM if you are interested.

your "easiest" option is a r200 from a R30 Skyline. the axles will fit into your s12 with no mods. you will still need the rear hanger bracket from an s12 though.

there are two types of input flange for r200's too. 4X8mm bolts on a round flange, or 4X10mm bolts on a square/rectangle flange.
you'll need to see what your driveshaft will fit.

the round flange type is usually on a non turbo r30, and square on a turbo.

another option is R31 Skyline. the jap import ones are mostly r200 independant rear. if you lucky, it may be lsd too. ive found 3 r200 lsd's over the years in jap turbo r31's, both turbo and non, that had the early rb20 red top motors. they have the square flange too.
the turbo ones have different (and stronger) axles, so you need to use the drive cups at the other end of the axle too. this is what i have in my s12 now. only bummer is they have some weird ratios like 4.4:1
