If your going to persist with using a heavy FJ20 in such a small car then I recommend you set your firewall back.
In regards to diff choice. Hilux is the cheapest easiest option. Im running one in my 1200 wagon and it owes me $400 shortened with a lsd centre. They are so easy to get different LSD,s and ratios for and have plenty of disc brake options.
Where as if you want to stay Nissan your looking at $1000 for a lsd centre minimum . Will require shortnening as well. LSD,s for these are very hard to come by. 2 of my mates have recently brought centres from japan at quite a price and wait.
Good luck but id ease up on your nissan requirement. Will make your project take longer and cost more

Totally agree! They are a bloody heavy engine. Handling might be a problem but in a straight line it will be lethal.
