B120 series Sunny Truck
The B120 commercial truck debuted in February 1971, based on the B110 passenger car chassis. The B120 used the same wheelbase and running gear of the Datsun 1200 sedans, coupé and wagon models. Initially it used the same stainless steel grille as the 1200 sedan, and the rectangular gauges of the Standard model B110s. Both regular (B120) and long-bed (GB120) models were offered. After the 1200 car series ceased production the B120 continued. Interestingly, in certain markets the B120 was actually badged as 120Y, to correspond as part of the updated 120Y range. The B120 ute was sold in Australia until 1985. It was marketed in New Zealand during the 1980s in two trims: RoadStar and SportStar. This model was known as a bakkie in South Africa. In 1978, in the Japan market the B121 model replaced the B120, with the most notable change being a switch to a plastic grille of the type used by the B110 Coupé. Also notable was a change to upscale round instrumentation.
In November 1989, an updated B122 and GB122 (longbed) models replaced the B121. Prominent among changes was a switch from round headlights to rectangular ones (along with new grille to accommodate this change). However other significant changes included:
front disc brakes
catalytic converters
NOx Conforming (emission controlled) models RB122 and RGB122 the A12 engine.
Nice info Hayden. Kinda makes me wonder whats going on with the ute then? I only wrote gb122 because its the number in my engine bay. Sadly my ute has drums all round, it does have the coupe style dash and clearly not the rectangular headlights. I wonder if its been changed at some stage?

If not, no probs with a disc brake conversion

Speaking of this. does anyone have any 1200 sedan or coupe' strutts they no longer need?
Interior spit shined today. Took seats out and cleaned up but found some rust under the seat
hopefully not structual
Started replacing rear eye bushes yesterday to find that the shakle ones are far from okay. I have a set on order from repco that should be here tuesday morning. Getting excited about this trip, should be good.

New spacer put in today ... absolutely stoaked with them. Steering is bliss but will get wheel allignment etc done and then take it for another blast!

Alright lads!!! xmas/birthday present finally turned up. Some axle stands and a jack
So car is getting parked up. Want to replace diff oil and rear brakes are going to be overhauled and im hoping to tamper with the tapets ....
but ... i dont exactly know what im doing. Anyone able to explain what feeler size and what stages i check each one at? Rule of 9's (1 + 8 ) or something right Bart?
Idea is to get whole rear suspension off and go from there? and just replace what is needed. bushes bolts etc

Yeah mate, rule of nine.
Pull of rocker cover, and wind engine over with a big socket. When a valve is FULLY open, subtract what number it is from nine, and check the lash between the tip of the valve, and the rocker arm with a feeler gauge. The clearance is 14 thou hot. (With the engine warm) Or you can set them to 10 thou cold, but I always find they're still noisey wen I set them up like that.
