The biggest improvement I have felt on an a series gearbox is replacing the plastic bushes that go either side of the shifter shaft itself.

Every datto I have driven they are either broken or missing completely.

Do it.

Then give me the Sunny.

Yeah Tony, you are right,
but it feels pretty good in the shifter, and it is a nice short shifter on it.
will have a look at it at some point though.

Fixed the leaky heater. It was just the wee 50mm long piece of hose between heater
box & heater valve. was pretty crusty and perished.

Brought a new head unit for it, and will get some decent rear speakers, and try and keep
my discipline and not cut in to the front door trims...

I was playing around with the carbs and after first making it worse by stuffing up the
mixture, I had some success. as it was pretty obviously the front carb was sucking a
heap more air than the rear one. the idle screw was very loose, and I adjusted it and
now it idles nicely @ 950rpm. mixture seems ok, and revs smoothly. Will do for now &
Vaughan has offered to take a look later in the month. I wonder if the idle screw has
just rattled loose.

Stripped rear seat out while I run stereo wiring etc, cant believe how clean & dry this
car is. only issue is I found a small area of rust above right rear tail light. will get some
rust kill on to that and keep it under control.

Want to get it lowered pronto!....

spent a few hours today wiring it with sounds.
some cheap fusion 6x9"s up the back & a mechless fushion head unit
courtesy of repco sale last weekend.
Second hand cerwin vega 12" sub & fusion 2 channel amp.
amp wiring kit from repco today (25% off sale)
and I have some pretty decent noise for under $250

No carpet/underlay so its quite alot of road noise, so sounds should drown that out.

Reassembled the air cleaner. put in some interior trim. still got to mount head unit properly, and refit centre console & parcel tray.
sub needs some brackets to stop it dancing around when cornering hard too.

Looking forward to lowering it, awaiting Brendon to dig out his spare avenger springs for me (hint, hint...)

Took it for a cruise, and think it wont be too long before i get the A15 back in it.... Stock A12 & 5 speed is flat as a pancake above 80km/hr... Maybe I give the A15 a set of rings & mild cam, then throw it in with the SU's on top of it?....

Only working on the sunny cause my brother is due back from Oz end of the month (he is the financer)
and Akaroa not far away, but mainly cause I have packed a sulk with my coupe!....

Got the front shocks out & stripped down last night, and thankfully they are oil-filled
type so easy (and free) to shorten them add heavier fluid.

Unsure what to do at back yet, as think I will need some shorter shocks, regardless
of what spring I end up using. as its got big long bilsteins in it at the moment!

I still have the standard shocks for rear which may help me keep rear captive.

Any advice on what shorter shocks work (I think I read N10 pulsars fit?) or any
springs that may be the go. I think rear spring is same spec as Stanza or S13/180SX
rear end. but you can only get them in 'lows' and I want 'super-lows' as want to
drop rear 60-70mm.....
