should be able to get them machined down 70mm or whatever you need.
be best to mock up and sort your springs, then look to see how much you need to shorten to keep captive.

alternatively there will be shocks from other cars that might retrofit up. if existing ones are a bit slogged out

I used VW rabbit (golf?) shocks in my 110 struts, but I shortened the bodies to gain the travel, rather than
pack the strut insert up off bottom of shock body

Ill look into getting shocks machined after motor is in i think, so I can get a nice height overall.

Managed to pick up some b310 top hats so will see how it sits when they arrive :D

You will need to slightly slot the holes for the top hats, as well as "work" the lip on the hole in the strut tower to get the top hat to fit through.

I used an adjustable crescent opened a small amount to lever around the lip a bit at a time and it worked well. Others have trimmed the lip with a grinder.

good advice Beaver, yeah crescent is the way to go. leave the grinder for the springs,
not dancing around in your engine bay!
