I have a 3.9 ratio H165 currently which I plan to run with Barts old 63a dogleg (A series). I don't think I'm ever going to thrash it it's more just not knowing where my final power figure is going to end up. If I just end up with s/c and nos only the 165 will be fine as I know that's what Bart was running but if my twincharge setup gets off the ground then I'll really be in the unknown.

It is all about torque after all and judging by how bart drove his sedan with the supercharged A series I wouldn't be to worried haha.

What do you mean? Bart told me that gearbox had never even seen a drag strip
I think I'll just do the conversion on my 165 in that case and if I really really need the extra strength I'll look at an R31 option. Although if one comes up cheap in the meantime I probably wont be able to resist hoarding some more stuff

Fact is, the Borg warner type 78 LSD is a cone style LSD. Cone type aren't the bees knees.
Plus the bigger the gears in a diff, the greater the driveline losses.
If you can get your paws on a clutch lsd for an H165, then you're golden. They are good enough for a reasonable amount of power.
