Hell yeah ! but don't expect it to be fast or even remotely anywhere near tuned

and i can't crank the boost until i do an inter cooler so just remember is not actually going to be this rocket ship that some of the performance parts fitted make it out to be.....

Right so for tonight update I got a mate to get me some components from Chase exhaust suppies to finish my wastegate dump tube .

*mandrel bend used
*flanges at each end for easy removal ( and so i can reuse the same tube when i change exhaust for a different turbo)*
*flexi bellows mid pipe to allow for the rapid thermal expansion and contraction

this is due to the nature of a waste gate being open or not the temperate varies a lot and if one was not fitted the welds would probably crack in a short period of time.

Tomorow i expect finish the piece that connect it to the lower exhaust underneath the car

My welding isn't much to look at but it gets the job done, i always leave important welding to a pro.

Good news guys ...

GOT THE WOF :dance2:

even threw 3 months rego on it,

however the downside was it stalled on me and would not fire up was it was warmed up and so i got stranded and needed a tow home.

First WOF since 2005 I'm having a night off and a cold beer

ALL legal for Akaroa, just need to get it tuned and running properly now

Proof is in the pudding :D

Aparently having an external Wastegate is a Grey are when it comes to the WOF inspection, because my car was inspected without the WG fitted ( the first time ) and I only came back for a recheck to pass the "Failed Emissions" i was fine.

Had this not been the case there could have been some different interpretations of the VIRM, it has been recommended that i get a CERT before next wof

Which I'm taking as a positive thing because it means I Can put on my 4 POT brakes & Stainless lines & also get certified for wheel spacers and my 16" rims.

But dam it feels good to be a legal.

Early indications are that my fuel gauge is not working so my "stalling" and needing a tow home might be rectified by a tank of petrol ...embarrassing....

However there is plenty to be done

Timing needs Set on Dizzy
Dwell angle needs set in the ECU to interface with the Crank Angle sensor
( might explain why it feels like it has less power than my diesel Surf with 70kw)
Check plug gaps
Need to find the sweet spot to get it to idle
Need to find the sweet spot for adjusting the injector pulse on warm start
need to drop dodgy cheap antifreeze for the good stuff ( no leaks or reasons to drain the system anymore )
Need to re fit bits of trim and surround for steering wheel
Need to make a proper holder for the spare tire
( tie downs at the moment mean i can't open the storage box behind the seat)
Go for a Real wheel alignment ( not string lines and a tape measure in the garage )

Possibly get 2 new tires for it as one might be flat spotted

In general news

It drives well , clutch is light, steering feels nice and manly & requires a bit of effort for power steering ( way i prefer it )
Ride is firm with the Koni Dampers & king springs. (These cars are notorious for being soft and squishy in oem )
Brakes feel very strong plenty of stopping power and modulation, handbrake works really well- although it could use a fair bit more anti roll bar front and rear.

Driving position is excellent seat is also height adjustable along with the steering column so i can dial it in perfectly.
Visibility out front is good, the only downfall being the bonnet is so long you can only see the first half before it curves down to the nose.

Exhaust is a bit loud and rowdy, sounds really good but i don't want to be the guy who has a mega loud exhaust and pisses everybody off - perhaps i need to change the muffler box at a later date.

all in all a very nice car, toque is good and gears are long so with some issues sorted out it will be fantastic.
