Good luck with that Bert.
I used to work with a guy who suffered from the same thing. He still had his license, but he was prone to seizures? Quite a nasty business when it was just he and I working alone somewhere when it would happen. First time it was kinda scary.

Yeah i know Bartman, I feel really bad for any of my friends/family or anyone who has to see me have one.
Especially if they haven't seen one before... It can be quite traumatic if been told.

It doesn't look like a picnic for the person having it either.
Hence me wishing you luck with getting your license back.

Cheers dude

In other news....

I have worked out through work that i can get a full head set, shim, sump gasket and plug,
(I thought I may as well replace them while there off) 8-)
All for a massive $61!! :dance2:
(Got to love staffies hehe...)
The head set is only $78.99 new from repco anyway guys

And one of our customers, Precision Regrinds, said they will rebuild my head (once I remove it) for $150+gst

Sound like a good price to get that done??
I need the head planed, valves shortened and shim the springs to make them stiffer.

What you think?

A word of advise.
If you have your valves re ground (or even just lap them in) it can turn an otherwise fine motor into a smoker. All the parts of an engine tend to wear out at the same speed. So if you have your head all done up like new, it will seal like a brand new head. Since your rings wont be brand new, the increase in compression and vacuum may cause oil to pass the rings and burn.
I did it once, and I wouldn't get burned again.
New valve guide seals are always worthwhile though.

The head was replaced when Grandad popped it, we still don't know why it went...
The head came off an ex-rally L20b, it had a mild cam, but He switched it out for the factory one,
and proceeded to scrap the mild cam!!
My motor has only done 137tho, as for the head, I have no idea how many its done...
It has good compression considering whats wrong, but the valves just wont open fully.
My father thinks the compression is at a good level for its age.
I think it was around 130psi each bar the 3rd down around 120psi (If i remember correctly)
The 3rd is down but not by much, there is no clearance (Hot or cold)
But she still wont rev past 4.5k...

Ideas?
Bare in mind I'm on a minimal budget, but I need to get her legal, and want to be able to just drive her without dealing with the idle and rev issues..

Yeah I clicked straight after I posted it haha.

AIMEX would be where I would get engine stuff done.

There is an L20b in a 180b wreck in Motueka, I could see how much it would be for the whole motor and/or car. I will get back to you.
