Was just a thought to stagger them long and short in each grouping, would only mean swapping 2 bolts

Hahaha thanks Luke! Although I am still a little worried about this whole diff swap thing but I'm sure I'll be fine!

Well after another very trouble free drive up to the North Island over Labour weekend last year I've hardly touched the 180B... My partner and I are planning on getting a house soon which would mean I'd finally get this thing in a decent size garage. Which means I get remove front screen and replace seal so it doesn't leak anymore and a few other bits and pieces.
I took the 180 away for a few days over the new year period which was fun. Stayed in a place in Windwhistle with a group of mates and drove down to Rakaia Gorge and got a jug at the blue pup in Methven was almost like the Rakaia cruise...
Driving back from my wee trip away I noticed a "rattling" sound every now and then. Thought it could've been something rolling around in the boot so didn't think much of it until I went to drive past a van who was turning off the motorway (super slowly I might add) gave it a bit of gas nothing silly or anything and heard a really big rattle which I then pulled over to inspect.
Had a look underneath the rear end to see what the issue could be when I spotted CV grease on the inner guard. 4x out of 6x bolts that bolt the outer CV to companion flange were missing and the 2x that were left were very loose... So jacked her up on the side of the road and removed the left rear wheel, due to the bolts coming loose and disappearing the CV boot clamp had disintegrated causing the boot to spew grease everywhere and the metal plate that you goes at the end of the CV had bent the tabs back that hold it in place which made it a wee bit tricky to get back into place. 1x of the bolts that were left was bent so no way was it going back in, I had to rob 2x bolts from the inner CV flanges so I could have at least 3x bolts holding the axle to the companion flange so I could get home.. safe to say I made it back ok but I really need to address that issue...
Currently using standard head bolts with spring washers and nuts but I'm thinking of changing to cap screws and nyloc nuts. When doing the diff swap I noticed the axle bolts were loose so when I put it back together I made sure they were tight and reasonably confident I used loctite on the bolts too...
It's pretty scary as two days before I was pushing the car pretty hard through some sweet roads so glad I didn't have a catastrophic failure...
Will get new bolts and nuts when I'm back at work and get use of the hoist again. So for now she ain't going anywhere...

At least you had tools on board to patch it up.

Yup!! Never had to use any tools when I've gone up north twice and thought I'd better chuck some in just incase. So glad that I did!
