Did some christmas shopping for the B today :D

First of all picked up a pair of RX7 S4 4 pot calipers got them pretty cheap too so was mega stoked about that.

Image

Then went into autolign to get my front springs that iv been wanting for ages. I couldnt help having a go at fitting them, they arnt captive when jacked up so may need keeper springs or shorter shock.

So thinking everything would be sweet and my car would sit real nice i forgot to check the clearance of the wheel to the spring when i put the wheels back on luckily i was lowering it slowly and noticed before something went wrong, still on stands till i get a solution :( Im hoping camber plates will fix this problem any ideas??

Image

Also Bart informed me yesterday my radiator is all ready to be mounted up had some brackets welded on to make it easier to mount and had to go remote reservoir will get that back next week and get that mounted up asap so i can pull the motor out and paint the engine bay :D

What struts are you mounting calipers on? Any brackets required
?

Mounting calipers to bluebird struts, yeah need a bracket got a cad drawing just need the rotor. There was a tech article on ozdat. Looks like a good and easy upgrade especially the calipers being so small and light.

Tyre touching spring?
If so camber plates won't do anything only a less positive offset wheel or a spacer wil corect that.
I reckon for the coilover get a keeper spring or see if autoligh do progressive rate springs and swap them get a progressive rate spring that is just captive at full droop then wheen you lower it it'll stil sack down pretty good cause the soft portion of the spring flattens out. I'd probably only go that route if your coilovers can wind down a whole lot more than they need too cause the progressive rate spring will hold it up a bit more than a keeper spring (keeper spring rates are ridiculously soft, you can flatten them with your hand)
Fire me a text if you want a hand champ

Adam I'll be using 15" rims and a 280mm disc not sure if you'll get 14's to fit

Nick yeah might be best for you to come over sometime to explain a bit better I don't mind changing rims if I have to either

Howzit.

Nice build. Yes, like it was already mentioned, the camber plates will not help with the tyre rubbing. The camber plates will add or substract camber, but the complete strut assembly, hub and wheel/tyre move together. No change in the space between tyre/wheel and coil/strut.

Spacers between wheel and hub will add that needed space. I can not tell from your photo if only the tyre rubs against the coil , or perhaps it is the wheel as well touching the strut. If it is aonly a tyre issue, go down on rubber size. ( i.e from 205/60 to 195/55 ). If the wheel is the issue as well, spacers are mandatory, or else, another wheel with different offset.

I am using 280ZX shortened struts, coil overs and Eibach springs with 14 inch wheels. I do not know the offset of my wheels ( I could take that measurement next time I am by my car, not at home though ) but they work fine.

No big deal, just a hindrance. No worries.

Here a few photos:

14X8 wheel.

14X8 wheel with 185-55-14 tyres I will use on the front at beginning.( wanted to make sure no issues like yours would happen)
Image

Here another 14X8 wheel with a 185-60-14 tyre next to 14X8 wheel with 185-55-14 tyre for comparison

This might make the difference between rubbing and no rub. width and height. 14X8 with 185/60

The easiest fix is wheel spacers Greg. BTW, I'm mad jelous of you scoring those calipers so cheap too.
I'd expect you'll wind up fitting mags down the track anyway, so it's be foolish to build your car to suit a set of wheels that'll be getting the flick at a later date. (Plus those wheels are fucking heavy too!) Do they fit the rears Alright? Is the rotor on the hub in the picture? Although the rotor your set up uses goes onto the back of the hub though aye?
As said what size tyres are on them? I'd say you'd want to run something like 195/205 50's.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
