Plenty of helping hands and tools at our place if you want to do that, you could even get some custom BRE (Belfast Rangi Engineering) shortened front struts too.
You mean Rangiora special struts john ;) show some respect to the guy who showed you how to do it :poke: be cool to meet you labour weekend kane looking forward to it
Haha yeah but in Belfast we actually use pipe instead of hose for ease of disassembly. But seriously, credit where credit's due, must have done about 4 sets of those by now, it's a useful trick that one, hats off to you Rangi!

No idea what you guys are talking about with Pipe?
But car is wof'd as of today, wheel aligned and flipped the tires as they werent wearing nicely and got me a tomtom for ease of finding where to go. Car still feels like its missing some power after I set the timing to 10degs as per book. But then if I do every thing by ear and feel it is much better. Check timing and its up around 23degs? worn timing chain maybe?

The pipe is for Steve's strut shortening technique, works great for keeping chopped springs captive. It's fairly easy to get around here compared to Wellington or Auckland too.

If only we had that long life oil they put in those new Hyundais, might have to try some of that for the next set, hehe.

Could the cam timing be out? 23deg sounds a bit suss, was the motor pulled down at some point?
The a12 motor in the yellow wagon back in the day had about 10deg of chain slack haha, so I would just set the crank to 8deg and use a test light to set the dizzy up perfect, best way to set timing if chain is worn.
If you wanna check your tune when its down here, Im keen to assist on one of my old wagons haha!

Happy for you to tinker Brendan :highfive: shame I wont have the dash in unless I can find the time before I leave on friday. Local engineer said about the cam chain being worn and as far as Im aware the engine has not been pulled down. See you in a few days.
