Accidently Hit limiter in 2nd gear 6500rpm

I suspect the ECU cut fuel as its form of rev limit

Loud bang which sounded like detonation

Running rough - ie feels like somebody pulled off a plug lead.

Feel like a bit of a muppet but honestly, anybody with a quick car would have hit the limiter by accident at least once.

and simply because I have missed a shift intro 3rd now i have a engine to pull out of the car.

Ahhhhh

False Alarm

vacum hose blew off before the WG had time to react and all compressions are good and all 6 plugs looked perfect

Been for a drive

all back to normal

oh my , reliefffff !!!!!!!!! i don't need to rebuild a short block

I don't think I've ever hit my limiter by accident, it's always on purpose :)

It was the only vacum hose that I have not replaced from start to finish,

I am definitly Investing in a Bee*R ignition cut limiter or perhaps an MSD6AL CDI ignition box with built in limiter functionality

I think it will be worthwhile to raise the Fuel Cut limiter to 7250 or something and have some sort of ignition cut limiter coming in at 6500rpm.

It is deceptive for a V6 , if I wasn't worried about cavitating the oil pump it would probally be happy with 7000rpm

and such I learned all about Rev limiters yeasterday and how retarded they are.

I read somewhere that BeeR limiters aren't too good for your turbocharger. (Don't quote me, I might have that wrong)
And I have read quite a few stories about MSD boxes shitting out. And yet much fewer (or none) about ther cheaper pro comp ones dying)

I yearn for a limiter for my engine too. I'm going to go with a procomp one since they cost less.

thats not so good about MSD box shitting out frequently ?

I always thought of MSD to be quite a "name" quality brand - oh well.

I think in regard to the Bee*R's not be nice to turbo's that is totally correct.

I could argue the fact that I'm not a drifter sitting on the limiter everytime i drive the car , and I'm not a drag racer using it for antilag functionality.

yeah there hard on turbo's but I myself would rather pop a turbo than an entire shortblock

Gasket set = about $200
Rebore , machine block deck , hot tank & polish crank =$500
New Pistons $800 to $1200 depending on what you get
Assembly supplies & other bits n bobs $150

total = 1650

Turbo Charger Rebuild is more like $300 & total replacement turbo is more like $900

haha I'm cheap as and rebuilt my own turbo for $30

I really would rather not blow up anything at all , lesser of two evils.

A blown turbo will getyou home ( been there already )

massive detonation willprobally get you stuck on the side of the road somewhere looking like an complete ass who ruined their car ( thats how i felt yeasterday )
