Fj porn. Nice. Where did you score that manifold?

I've been mucking around with these throttle bodies a bit, everything looks like it should work okay, I haven't figured out how to do the TPS. On the L series I originally tried to put the TPS on the main throttle rod which according to the guy that tuned it was a bad idea so I ended up moving it to the throttle shaft on one throttle body, I had to make up some adaptors and stuff. The problem is these throttle bodies are different and don't have the mount for the TPS because the set used the original Toyota TPS mounted to the main throttle shaft.

The injectors look like they will seal up with just an o ring that groove, the holes either side of them are a perfect fit for the common Nissan hold down brackets like the L28s and FJs have.

I'm pretty keen to just chuck them on with the standard computer and see what happens, being air flow metered it should still run okay I think? I really want to do the SR computer swap but it's my only going car at the moment, need to sort out the black Z first.

Have been looking at the TPS situation today, I think what I'm going to do is make a mounting bracket off the last two throttle body to manifold mounting studs, cut a 12mm 6 point socket up and make an adaptor out of that and a D shaft to run off the throttle shaft locking nut. I think it should work okay?

I checked the main throttle shaft and it moves about 60 degrees, the throttle body shafts themselves move more like 80 degrees. It probably doesn't matter too much on the stock computer as the TPS is only really a 2 position switch and the "full throttle" part of the switch can be adjusted if need be.

Thought I'd pull the inlet manifold off and have a look at the throttle bodies actually on the car. The main problem so far is clearance for the plenum, changing to a later model master cylinder would help as they don't have the bulbous bits on the sides but would mean getting rid of the external proportioning valve (same as I've done on the Z), a master with the outlets on the bottom or right hand side would be better so I'll see what I can find. I might get away with just shortening the runners on the plenum and running lines with banjo fittings between the original master and proportioning valve which you can see mounted on top of the booster.

My proper DR tail lights arrived, they aren't perfect but they're heaps better than the ones I had fitted to the car, hopefully these ones are water tight. You can see the top one has a black background where the new one at the bottom has a light grey back ground.

Got the new tail lights installed, they look pretty good, wasn't as easy as I would have liked but got there in the end.

Bought this sweet period SK plenum which was supposed to solve my plenum issues.

Only problem is it doesn't really fit, either it's not for an FJ or the manifold it was made for is different to the common FJ ones available now. I'll think about what to do with it, might just end up making my own manifold to fit it, I don't really want to chop the plenum up to make it fit but it may come to that.

that looks awesome

Can you get skdmrx jogn to mill you out a new backing plate so you can use the plenum ?

That's a good idea, making one out of flat plate wouldn't actually be that hard. I've got another carb inlet manifold showing up this week so it'll be interesting to see if it's different.

Got this thing going again tonight with the stock setup back together, I replaced all the injector hoses while I had it all apart and ended up having to replace the PCV valve hose too as it'd gone rock hard and had a crack where the clamp went on one end, I tried to shorten it and had to cut it with a hacksaw as a brand new knife blade wouldn't go through it so thought it best to replace it.

Also removed the EGR completely, blocked off the outlet on the turbo exhaust housing and made up a new block off plate where the valve itself sat.

Before nat's would be pushing it, but we can bang out a cad file in like an hour

So a couple of other little things I did before the track day were put on the Nismo oil/air separator that I bought for the Z, it's made for GTRs and drains the separated oil back into the sump, I had to weld a barb on to the spare oil return that I had. I think this motor is getting a bit tired, when I took off the original line I had on there between the rocker cover and the turbo inlet oil was dripping out of it, hopefully this will help to keep the oil out of the turbo/intercooler and inlet manifold.

I had to move the boost controller solenoid as well which is a good thing as I was never really happy with where it was before, it's now mounted on the same bracket as the separator and is much more solid now.

I also got this Nismo strut brace, not sure if it really makes any difference, it seems a little bit flimsy to me.
