Nice to see the loving going on here. Do you think you can get it going for the SI DatNats this year? We are heading to Cromwell for some great roads and maybe even some laps at Highlands park, and Awesome Photo opportunities for all the old cars. Labour weekend 2020
Laps? Hmm, might have to do some work on the 240Z instead!

I worked through Covid19 lvl4 so didn’t get the time I wanted to work on him. Saw the rust when cleaning out engine bay and was pretty guttered really. You might remember it’s the same area I had repaired when the wheel fell off. The chassis area where the steering box bolts through is as rotten as a blue waffle. Needs repair before it collapses.

Original plan was to have both running for North Island nats next year but I got a message From Luke last night talking about central Otago as a possible location for South Island nats this year. I will have the Ute on the road by then now. Wife’s approval too...Francis just might have to get the A12 heart instead but still with the 5sp. Highlands is too good of a location to pass up!

Ange and Olivia (baby) will travel down in work Ute (I may potentially travel with and tow Datsun)

Or both? After last years nats, I just want to give the Datsun a little more Jandal. I’m too much of a legal pussy to drive fast on the streets.

Took off normally in the 1200 last time I was in town. Having picked up Mum from work, we were on our way home and she didn't like the pep in it's step. Don't think she want's to be a passenger again lol

Last day I was in town I was going around 80-100 km/h around Hagley Park... Whoops... That Lexus driver I was racing with gave me the salute of approval though, so was worth it ;)

Due to having front running gear out I’ve made up a temp skid frame so it can be dragged onto a tow truck for delivery to panel & paint shop 🤙

I have been working on my dellorto carbs which I’m planning on putting onto the A14.

I have two sets in the shed.

1st set is Dhla40
Venturi/choke size = 28
Main jet = 110
Air corrector = 200
Emulsion tube = 7772.5
Idle jets = 48
Idle jet assembly = 7850.1
Starter emulsion tube 7482.1

2nd set is Dhla40G
Venturi/choke size = 32
Main jet = 145
Air corrector = 220
Emulsion tube = 7772.10
Idle jets = 55
Idle jet assembly = 7850.2
Starter emulsion tube 7482.3

I’ve been reading info but couldn’t find anything specific to A14. So below is what I thought I should use
Venturi/choke size = 28
Main jet = choke x 4 = 112. I have 110
Air corrector = (main jet+50 = 162). Smallest I have is 200?
Emulsion tube = 7772.7 or 7772.6. Unsure what to do here
Idle jets = 40-45. Smallest I have is 48
Idle jet assembly = ?
Starter emulsion tube = ?

Some spare parts I have are:
Venturi/choke = 30 x3 & 32 x1
Main jet = 132 x4
Mixture screw = 9656 x2

Anyone have any thoughts on if I should be buying some seperate jets etc.

Also, after 7years with my tools I’ve finally lost my 10mm. Was a sad day 😕

So after pulling apart the 2nd Dhla40G, I found a few odd jets and even the Venturi chokes were different. One odd mixing valve. One of the floats was damaged and the other has about 3 separate soldering attempts at keeping it intact. I have ordered the rebuild kit and the pump diaphragms. Found matching Venturi chokes and put a smaller set of 132 main valve jets I had. I will replace floats too and put at 15mm and 25mm. Cleaned everything up with hot water and baking soda. Not perfect but way better than when I started.

Next step is to setup the new fuel pump system.
