Well you are on right track......sort of.....I say that as the pic of the engine in the car is a later l20. The L20 was first produced in October 1965 so yes this 1966 car would have been L20 powered. The L20 later known as the L20a to show it was different to the L20b 4 cylinder introduced in 1975. Anyway the first L20 were a bit different to later engines.

See this pic for visual difference. Notice the different cam cover and how this is held on to the head. The head is a bit different as is the cam chain tensioner
