It will be expensive Chris, I contemplated this but for the same money (around $3k, not including carbs which will be $2k by themselves) I figured that is close to a RB25DET with twice the power.

Lets look at what is needed

LD28 crank = can sometimes get for $100 off trademe if your lucky or can be arsed removing yourself from a dud motor
pistons = I got six brand new OEM KA24DE pistons for $150 landed and that was a FARKIN mean deal
block bore to 89mm = you better have a good machinist cause this is on the edge, if he fucks it up your motor wont last jack
full gasket set = shit one around $80 nissan = over $200
oil pump = aftermarket standard shit one = $70, Nissan one = over $150 and a L28 turbo one is the one to get
decent cam = over $300
no point doing a stroker without a decent head job = $500 - infinity !
l28 motor = $200 if your real lucky

with that not including the machining required the price is $1400 just on some of the parts required.

L series are really adversly affected by balance, so a real real good balance of rotating assembly needs to be done
However if you get stuck I may part with my LD28 crank and L28 block.
L series ignitions are shit, even the electronic ones, I have spoken to many people running strokers in NZ and they ALL use MSD 6A or 6AL systems.

You make a valid argument there Tony.
There is a shop here in town which has a very sensitive balancing machine. But he isn't especially cheap................
