I have bypassed the factory reg/recterfier by jumping the wires between the White/black ignition wire (from key) to the White/red that goes out to the exciter feild in the internaly reg/rect alternator at the reg/rect plug.
so i need to put a diode in line here? a friend of mine who sold me the alternator has done exactly the same as me (he showed me the wiring in his sss 180b) but has no issues.
the alternator i had fitted has blown already...
but, i realized why they both blew!
the lower radiator hose that enters the block above it...
...the hose clamp had broken, and subsiquently loosened of.
this is fixed now, and i have another one on the way
(off a v3 sti wrx.. the mounts are the same, and same shaft size, just need to switch the pulleys over...)
now springs, what type do i need to look for?
front/rear and what car do they come off...?
