I have been around forums long enough not to do that to the real people
- hell been around the internet before it was the internet - back then we used modems and BBS - Bulletin Board Services - there was no GUI just text/DOS based stuff - we also used USENET.
Now MR1200 might not be young...but he does come off that way (PFY). Anyway enough of that - the internet is full of crap these days and I see things are going full circle with many sites no long post prices for products etc making looking for best product/solution for the best investment means we have to email or pick up the phone like the old days.
So those that are interested there are still only 3 sets of rims in this group buy available - 2 of the black and 1 of the gunmetal. However if more want the gunmetal I am happy to take the 2 black and give up my 2 set of gunmetal - I just want 2 set in the same colour.
Cheers
Mike

Well since we're on the topic I will say that while I know that type of forum user is very much in the minority on here, I know for a fact that some real good guys from the old DOCNZ forum have been put off this site because of that sort of carry on. And not because of any of the personal shit that went on back then. It's a shame that those guys are not active on this forum.

I hear what you're saying saying Morgan.
I personally know around 80-85% of the regular posters here. And for the most part at least the same percentage of that group are GC's.
TBH, to hear that anyone feels as though they aren't welcome here bothers the fuck out of me. I well remember how things were at DOCNZ right up until when Glen dropped the ball. (and for better of worse, that he did)
That in mind, I've always done my best to befriend new users, and try to get along with everyone.
but, as we know no-one can be friends with everyone all the time.
The sole party offering negitivity on this occasion has only recently chosen to begin posting again after a self inposed hiatus. I've known Toby for while now, and I'm glad to see him back on the forum. It's a shame he's grating another user. But the internet is a place for free expression of opiions/ideas. And anyone who posts on a forum knows that a bit of jibe can be par for the course, and there are time when I thick skin is needed.
Nothing that breaches the realms of whats acceptable has been said. And I hope the OP continues to contribute what they have to offer.

dead right. and I think you do a good job of making people feel welcome Bart. You're a good ambassador for your club.
And I agree that the internet is a place of free expression. which is good. But, when you put a bunch of very different people together who are loosely connected by a common interest, differences of opinions are inevitable, as we've all seen on forums and in real life. But in real life I think most people use a bit of tact and either keep their opposing opinions to themselves or offer them in such a way as to not offend, or avoid a smack in the head. I don't see why an internet forum should be any different?
I'm not conflict averse if it leads to a positive outcome, but negative comments that are not constructive in any way add no value to a discussion, and even take the focus away from it. I would bet that everyone on this forum sees people doing things to their cars that they might not agree with, from the colour they paint them to modifications or even to how they treat them. But normally we just keep our mouths shut, or comment on the positives.
I think the people who don't bother with this forum aren't thin skinned, they just can't be bothered with that sort of shit, that's all.
We're not adding anything to Mike's topic with all this bullshit either, so maybe it should be moved or deleted

Congrats mate. I'm sure you've been told already, but having babies seriously impairs your ability to work on datsuns. I suggest you write down everything you want to do on your cars over the next two years, then divide it up into the days left until the due date, and then GO BALLS OUT.
And by the way people who think changing shitty nappies is the worst, it's not. The worst thing is sleep deprivation. Until they start eating solids. By then you should be sleeping again, but the shit really starts to hum. Enjoy!

I know to well how kids can slow down any Datsun project my road car has been off the road...too long 15 years
MR1200 all good we do all have different opinions I am not looking at these as fakes, I have real watanabes and real minilight on both of my zeds currently, I am looking at these for brake clearance and body work clearance. Neither of the genuine items will work for the 3 240z/260z race cars that want to run the largest brakes we can with the size rims we can prove where used in period aka 15". Other rim manufactures are not interested in working with us. Rota have been excellent to deal with, well the NZ agent has been outstanding in this manner. So these are good as they have passed the via tests, have the brake clearances we need, and a period size and look.
So I will stick around not going away.....unless you want me to go away...and any zed questions you have I will either know the answer or find it for you
Up to the mods if they want to tidy this thread or lock / delete etc

As a mod, I don't feel there's anything here that warrants a lock/delete. Robust debate is constructive. And there's been no personal slagging off/ dissing that would justify it. I feel this thread has come full circle. And there has been an absence of animosity. Which is a good thing. And as I said previously, if circumstances were different I'd be seriously considering a set of these for my ride. (Fortunately by the time I'm ready to buy a set of wheels, the post quake rebuild will be far enough progressed that the roads where I live wont destroy a set of wheels like these faster than it takes to wear out a set of tyres)
And thanks for the positve comments. I'm looking forward to fatherhood. I hope to have the car I began building in 1995 on the road before I become a dad.
