Turns out the engine has been overheated at some point which Bent the head, who ever did it new what they had done they tried covering it up with a new head gasket. Started missing real bad took it to a mechanic and ended up getting the engine fully reconditioned cost 3 grand including parts was well worth it she's running so smoothly now

Looking good, sad news about the head, but nice to hear it is sweet now, that engine should run like that for years, they are great motors! (Not Biased at all :P )

Great to hear you spent the extra money, and showed the old girl some love!

wasn't just the head gasket that was done, the whole engine copped new rings and bearings, was all done by a tool maker, so must have been over heated after it was reconned, head was checked and planned and what not at the same time as rings and bearings, chances are, you may have gotten away with head work only, good to hear its running well now though.
