Re: Simon's 120y
Brake upgrade time. I have a set of b310 front struts. I am thinking of swapping the hub and caliper and putting them on the b210 struts. Is this posible? All will come clear I guss when I pull things apart and start swapping things around. I know about Barts s14 conversion, but I'm running 12 inch wheels. Yes I did try the 12 inch mags on the sunny struts and there is loads of room. I am also going to add the brake booster.
While I have the struts out I will replace the top hats with 1200 ones. Rip out the rubber block things arond the rear springs and make up some lowering blocks. I know that this will not lower it down into the weeds, but it will make it a little less nose bleedie.
And with it being in the air I might have a go at beefing up the towbar so it can take my down hill bike rack.
All going well once I have my time macine going I should get this done yesterday. So far all it does is makes time go faster i.e, I spend 5 minutes on it and there is an hour gone. LOL.

Re: Simon's 120y
I'm not sure about adapting 310 hubs and rotors to 210 struts. Usually people swap the whole strut over. Unfortunately this usually requires swapping the lower arms, steering arms, castor rods, and lower ball joints to make them work.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
Re: Simon's 120y
hey mate just done brake upgrade on my coupe the stub axles on the 210 struts are thinner than the 310 ones. so they wont switch over. the 310 strut swap is eay and all the lower arms and so on bolt straight in. if it was me i would do the strut swap. just my two cents.

Re: Simon's 120y
I had a look at the struts today and yes the will never swap over. I should have gone back the the guys that sold them to me and got the rest of the bits they were selling.
Oh well I will just put the booster in.
I tried to fit the 1200 top hats in but they didnt fit eather. The hole in the body wher the top hat pokes through is to small. The hole size is Ø80mm. I think I have to take it out to Ø92mm to make it fit. Is this the way to go or is the a top hat that will poke through without hacking away the car?

Re: Simon's 120y
1 way to do it is this......... Grind the lip off the top of the strut tower. It doesn't take much off, but it just enough to fit the B310 top hat through the hole. I have done this to my 120Y wagon and its all good. If you are careful enough no one can tell. Unless the know there 120Y's.TL Speed Shop wrote:I tried to fit the 1200 top hats in but they didn't fit either. The hole in the body where the top hat pokes through is to small. You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

Re: Simon's 120y
BREAKING NEWS!!! The brake booster works. No more pushing the peddel through the floor hoping it will eventuality stop. I also managed to get the 1200 top hats in as well. This required filling 6.5mm all the way around the strut tower hole over two nights. The result looks like a non modified strut tower.
Next on the list is to get the lowering blocks machined up and clean up the mags.
