update time, after many dilemmas....

5spd wouldnt fit on friday night, after much frustration and screaming thanks to having the flu.
removed clutch on sat arvo and checked clutch plate against input shaft - clutch plate doesnt fit on input shaft, probly due to dodgy clutch alignment done in the dark weds night.
rang around and couldnt find a clutch plate, went to repco hastings and found a clutch plate and tried on the 5spd - worked sweet, just before paying a shocking $87+ for the clutch plate (my discount!) i tried my clutch plate backwards on the shaft - it slid on and stopped, the clutch plate splines are tight/damaged.
went home, shane and i cleaned up the splines and got the plate to slide sweet on the splines.
fitted clutch and pressure plates, shane checked and adjusted alignment.
brock and i fitted the 5spd up onto clutch - no troubles.
next issue - xmember further back on 5spd so wont mount up to vehicle. spent sat nite modifying the xmember to suit.
sun morn tried xmember, would bolt up but 5spd hits tunnel, find spacing washers and longer bolts, bolt up 5spd.
next issue - driveshaft too long. rang dylan dirtyleppa to confirm a theory - he used his wagon auto driveshaft in the conversion. went out to the datsun parts department (storage) and found a wagon auto driveshaft, fitted that to vehicle.
next issue - wrong speedo drive. found in the parts dept a 310 sunny auto sender that worked fine when fitted.
put the wagon back together and roadtested - no dramas, smooth gearchanges, happy as!
just need to find a better gearstick, off to storage tonight.

since the 5spd was fitted, the dogleg gearstick has been hitting the handbrake in 4th and reverse, and the crappy console couldnt be fitted due to contact from stick as well.
so at smoko....
