One more patch to do in the front left corner
The front wings had a lot of surface rust on the outside so I didn’t muck around here, sprayed them down with paint stripper then ran over it with a wire buff. The engine bay got cleaned up and sanded. You can see in the first photo an example of the rust worming it had.

Re: Otodats vb11 rat wagon
Then it was painting time. So the plan here was always to use up paint I had lying around. First up was crc rust converter. I got this for the 1200 a couple of years ago but it left a rusty looking finish after a couple of weeks that I wasn’t to happy with. I let this cure for a day then put on some black primer that was left over from the president engine bay. Next I had a small amount of grey primer for the engine bay only. I only had about 1.5L of killrust white and needed some left over, for the underside of the bonnet, so the outsides got president black paint in places and the inside the killrust white. In hindsight I should have maybe left the black primer as a base because it came out super bright white, but meh, is what it is! Anyway have some pics

Re: Otodats vb11 rat wagon
After this I threw a motor at it as described earlier. Then a few patches on the front guards
This was an old repair. It looks like the bottom of another guard had been welded on and bogged over but never finished. Just rewelded it a bit better and called it good.
Another little patch here Did a little straightening (without getting carried away) Coated the inside with rust converter and any rusted spots on the outside Followed by some paint

Good thanks Steve. Hope you guys are well too ! Love your resourcefulness ! One oddity with these B11 vans is they were the only B11 to be sold in Australia as a 3 door van badged as a Pulsar to align with N12s. Nissan Japan also badged these as a Pulsar to fit in with their Pulsar range as the N10 van and wagon was not continued. You may know all this already.

Re: Otodats vb11 rat wagon
Hey Mohit, that’s the plan for now.
Anyways, from here there was a few areas of bodge to tidy up Messed this one up quite a bit and had massive warpage but hey, I can’t be bothered redoing so just slammed some primer over top and called it good
This bit at the rear end, turned out it was just stoved I’m so made a makeshift slide hammer to pull it back out
Note the tail lenses, going to need to source some at some point.

Re: Otodats vb11 rat wagon
Both the rear doors had bodge put over this area under the windows
And inside underneath the window
Then gave the insides a good dose of fisholene
The front door windows wouldn’t wind up properly so I treated the rust on the front rails and replaced the seals with some land rover ones I had. This got them working good again. Then they got the fisholene treatment too.
The Land Rover door top seals look like they will work for the rear doors, just need a bit more to fill in the rear gap.

I’ve had some willing helpers over this period too, so after the underside got water blasted I set them to work.

Re: Otodats vb11 rat wagon
Didn’t have a socket for the wheel nuts so made up something
Worked surprisingly well. Test fit some Z car mags I’ve got
Really needs to come up a bit in the rear, will look at getting some 50mm blocks, it’s on 75mm blocks currently
