Make sure you have a flange installed so you can remove them easily.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Hi Guys,
Just a quick update (with photos) for you all...
Old exhaust system has been permanently removed, current 5 speed gearbox has been temporarily removed from the car, and both gearbox mounts have been taken out of the tunnel (and spot weld holes repaired). Was advised the right hand mount was a bit more difficult to get off, so was just easier to cut a patch out and weld a new piece in afterwards. Images as follows:
Recently it was brought to my attention that the front left side of the vehicle appeared to have suffered an impact at some stage in it's life. Subsequently, the front left castor arm mount was found to be in a bit of a mess. It was decided that in the effort of having the car ready for Akaroa, we would just repair the old castor arm mount and refit it. Am advised it managed to straighten out pretty good. This was a lot easier than dealing with a guy on Trade Me who wasn't much help in sourcing a complete mount (cut out of a wrecked sedan)... Had recently purchased another set of castor rods off of Kitch. This was very handy as having two sets of castor arms meant we could use the bush washers off one to replace the twisted chassis mount (as they are they are apparently the same). The original castor rods were pretty average/warped/bent in some places, so worked out well. Some before and after images are as follows:
Gearbox cross-member modifications are in progress to fit the gearbox properly, so that the correct position for the mounts in the tunnel can be determined. Once the gearbox is back in the car and all mounted up, my new exhaust will be built so that it's ready for the engine to be finished (and hopefully get it running properly for Akaroa)

Gearbox mounts are now finished (with the exception of a couple of small spacers that will go in when the gearbox is fitted back to the underside of the car). Am advised by mush that he will whip the spacers up at work tomorrow, so hopefully we will have the gearbox back in tomorrow night...done and dusted... Once complete, then mush can start on the exhaust which hopefully shouldn't take long.
By chance, mush as been nice enough to freshen up the drive-shaft too (seeing as it was already out of the car and he had leftover primer already mixed up for all the other repairs). Image update/dump as follows:

The 5 speed is in! The spacers Hamish [mush] made up are done and fit nicely, and the gearbox should be in for good now!! Am advised the thread in one of the bolt holes is a bit average but mush said he will fix up, no worries Next step, exhaust this weekend!!!
Damon [Dattodevil] has my side draught carbs apart at the moment and is trying to source and replace the jets and chokes for recondition (seals etc should be fine as they are at moment). Advised jets are currently out of stock, and boy are the chokes expensive! Also, second-hand inlet manifold option turned out to be a no go, so new one of those will be needed as well (money, money, money...)
To help get the car up and running and tested in time for Akaroa (in parallel with Damon trying to sort out my own), [Kitch] has been kind enough to offer/lend me his sidies and manifold! This will be beneficial come this weekend, as the exhaust should be done and dusted, and we might get a chance to start up the 1200 proper, and see how she runs off the bat!! Advised jets are currently out of stock, and boy are the chokes expensive! Some original pictures are as follows for any interested (who haven't seen the vehicle yet):
Only things done so far have been very minor (leads, filters, oil, rubbers/boots, plugs, contacts, wheel nuts etc) but will update with any major changes and images to match. Appears the starter motor was replaced semi-recently as it can just go and go and go.
