Basically what ever i can fit under the guards at this stage im thinking 9s in the rear and 8s in the front

They actually range from 15x4 to 15x18.25!!! http://weldracing.com/15-in-s71.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Although i think 18.25 wide is more of a drag application! ha

update .....Not sorted :(

the brass hose downsizer i have used is leaking at the joins

Will thread tap disintegrate if i use it to seal up the joint?

I think the proper fuel proof thread tape is yellow but I've used the normal white stuff and haven't had any problems. It's definitely going to leak if you don't have some sort of sealing stuff on there. We use Loctite liquid thread sealant at work sometimes too.

Hose downsizer? Did you put a joiner fitting in the hose, or did you find something to thread into the fuel pump? If you put a joiner in the hose and you want to put thread tape around it to build it up, then that won't work.

If you put a fitting into the pump and it's leaking from the threads, then you probably put a NPTF fitting into a BSPT port.... Or vice versa. They are similar, but have different TPI and taper angles. Thread tape may work, but you'd be better off using the right fitting.
